Vision

To Inspire

The Winged Man Art is a brand about me. It is me. It is my ongoing body of artwork and the physical manifestation of my imagination.

To Stay in the Clouds

It's about keeping your head in the clouds, dreaming big, and striving forward. The wings were placed on the head of the figure in the logo for this reason.

To Tell Stories

It's about telling stories through art and connecting. Sometimes a single phrase, the pose of a figure, the symbolism of a skull and a rose, can tell powerful stories about life and the struggles therein.

Side Quest

It's also about inspiring others who—like me—are Dreamers, Single Fathers, Veterans, Fellow Nerds, and The Broken.

Artist Bio

Hi I’m Deric Albright, the artist behind The Winged Man Art.  I’m a constant work in progress always striving to move the chains forward a little each day—whether it’s with my artwork, career, fatherhood, fitness, or other personal goals.  As an artist, I am sort of stuck in the past. I love using traditional pencils and inks on paper to bring to life high-fantasy and comic book style creations.  But, I do enjoy coloring my work using digital methods from time to time as well.

Over the years my main sources of inspiration have come from fantasy artists like Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Bernie Wrightson, and from stories like The Lord of the Rings.  I also very much enjoy comic art such as that of Jim Lee, Mike Ploog, and David Finch to name a few.  But there are so many more artists, stories, movies, and T.V. shows that I enjoy and gain inspiration from everyday.

When I am not drawing I can be found spending time with my two daughters, or lurking about the gym trying (and failing) to get huge. But, I at least try to stay fit.  I believe fitness to be a critical aspect of my personal well being and life balance.  In addition to being an artist, I am also proud to say I am a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  I served on active duty between 2003 and 2007 and have continued supporting the military in a civilian role for many years.

I hope to one day transition to writing and producing artwork for my very own comics and short stories and to see them brought to life on the big screen.
